Here’s the thing: the most successful people have defined their personal goals and have developed positive daily habits to help them reach these goals.
They don’t wait for life to present them with opportunities for success. They create opportunities and expect success. They have a vision, and they’ve plotted out the daily, weekly, and monthly actions to make the vision a reality.
If you examine the lives and habits of some of the most successful people — people like Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett, Oprah Winfrey, or Mark Zuckerberg — you’ll see they have many things in common.
Each of these people defined what they wanted and were determined to make it happen in spite of challenges and roadblocks along the way.
In my own life, both for my career and personal life, I’ve written down specific outcomes I wanted to achieve, and (for the most part) I’ve made these things happen because I created an action plan and followed through with it.
Building my business, writing and publishing books, moving to a new city, building a house — all of these began with a vision, a firm goal, and a series of habits and action steps.
We all know intellectually that having goals and habits leads to success, but do YOU actually put this knowledge to the test?

Successful people not only set long-term and daily goals, but also they write down their goals and review them regularly. They break down their goals into manageable actions or habits and set benchmarks for achievement. 2. Start early.
Successful people wake up early and start their work day before others do. They are disciplined in using the early hours for some of their most productive work. 3. Remain focused.
Highly successful people know what they want, and they keep their eyes on the prize, even when distractions or other opportunities try to lure them away. They are fierce about minimizing distractions and focusing on the task at hand. 4. Invite criticism.
Successful people aren’t intimidated or angry when they are criticized. In fact, they invite constructive criticism and learn from what others suggest. 5. Take calculated risks.
Successful people don’t procrastinate on the hard or unpleasant tasks. They do what needs to be done and try to finish harder tasks or projects early in the day to get them out of the way. 6. Work on hard stuff first.
